This is the triangular box from Julia S. Pretl's "little
boxes" book. I didn't follow any of the patterns, just made
it up as I went. This is a great book, and the projects aren't too hard to
follow. If you have a passion for small containers (like me), it a wonderful
project.

Bead & Button magazine
featured Dragon's Hummingbird pattern, which I've always wanted to make, but
just never had it on the top of my list. However, after looking at it a while,
I wondered how it would look if it was made to look like an eagle. This is
the result.
After years of wearing my Independence
earrings, and intending to make something to go with them, I finally made
this choker. The original white beads in the earrings were pearlized - but
I no longer had any, so these are simple white opaque. It is made of Czech
beads and pressed glass stars. The main part of the necklace is brick stitch
using bugle beads - much like the base row for the Independence earrings. The
ends are then blended into a peyote stitch so they could be decreased into
the smaller tube that the ends are wound through.
The local crafts store had bags of marbles on sale so I bought a bag of clear
ones, with nothing specific in mind. I decided to enclose them in a beaded
net, and add fringe (twisted!) - now it's a tassel that works great as a pendant.
The necklace is the spiral rope chain from my ' Beading
Glasses '.
This piece won First Place at the 2002 Oregon State Fair!! I have named this
"Titanic" because everyone I showed it to said it reminded them of the necklace
in the movie, and I had never seen the movie at that time. The Paua shell is
beaded fully across the back. Someday when I can find 2 smaller shells dyed
the same color, I'll make matching earrings. I did make some netted marble
with fringe earrings to go with it in the meantime.
I made this choker for my wedding. The beads are 5-cuts, and I think they're
a size 9. The dark ones are an iridescent blue and the light ones are a semi-opaque
sky blue. I had purchased these beads in the mid-70's at the Oregon Country
Fair and was told at the time they were no longer being made. I have used and
re-used these beads. I would make something, wear it for a few years then take
it apart and make something else. I think this is the last project for these
beads. Each time I would re-make something I would lose some - I have no extras
left.
This has matching
earrings .
This choker is made in a single-needle Right Angle Weave. The tiger butterfly
pattern is based on an actual butterfly I had found while my husband and I
were camping. What a find! It was just laying on the ground in perfect conditon
(except that it was dead) to inspire me. It is backed with an ivory colored
leather.
I bought Sandy Forrington's Picot Lace book at Embellishment a couple years
ago and had fun playing with the technique and made this choker.
There are earrings to
match.
Okay, I admit it, I'm old - I need reading glasses. Actually, I call them Beading
glasses. Naturally, I needed a beaded necklace to go with them. This is simply
a Spiral Rope Chain, done with a bronze inside bead with the outer beads in
colors of a rainbow. I had to use lobster claws on the ends as the earpieces
on the glasses are too narrow for the usual eyeglass grips to snug up.
This choker is simple, but very nice to wear. It's backed with a nice soft
leather and has a round 4 strand braid for tying around the neck. Check out
the matching Amulet
Bag and Earrings .
